Poverty in Africa is exacerbated by such factors as population density, gender inequality, war, political instability, economic shocks, class conflict, corruption, weather extremes, and disease (e.g., AIDS, Ebola, and COVID-19). Because of these factors, Africans regularly deal with acute food shortages and food crises.

To fight the lack of access to sufficient, healthy food, Compass Action partners with local churches in eight African countries to implement health and nutrition interventions. These interventions provide individualized care and attention to hundreds of thousands of children in poverty.

Growing water demand and water scarcity have turned into a notable challenge in Kenya. Climate change, population growth, urbanization, water pollution, and poor management of water resources have aggravated the issue of the water crisis, which affects economic activities, food security, education, and health.
59 dollars could provide a family with a dignity kit (towels, underwear) and baby kit (to provide basic care to their child).
Children are already dying because of malnutrition and disease. The situation has never been more desperate.
