Job Purpose 

The Projects Coordinator is envisioned as a primary support to the Project Lead and to help ensure the quality of project deliverables at the community level.  They will play a vital role in ensuring that our advocacy efforts are strategic, and evidence-based, and effectively contribute to progress in the milestones of the project. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategy development & implementation

  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of education legal and policy reform initiatives at the Community levels.
  • In close collaboration with the project leads, the Head of Advocacy, and the Education technical specialist, develop and implement county advocacy strategies for the project.
  •  Responsible for the delivery of an annual implementation work plan. 
  • Develop and implement relevant context-specific strategies for effective child participation within the advocacy activities in collaboration with the field office teams and relevant staff at the country office. 
  • Support project leads in identifying policy and practice change, which would improve education outcomes.

Building Partnerships 

  • Identify local networks and coalitions and develop sustained partnerships/ alliances that are critical in the dissemination and/or application of research findings and/or learning to influence the policy and practice landscape about education issues.
  • Representing Compass Action at strategic forums, networking with strategic CSOs, and other social movement processes that are relevant to our policy work including education.  It also includes identifying and helping to identify and nurture education ‘champions’ to support our agenda.
  • Support area offices to build partnerships with communities and program beneficiaries in establishing accountability mechanisms, capacity building, and knowledge management.
  • Support the capacity building of program and field staff and key partners on advocacy through training, sharing best practices, and supporting learning and knowledge management. 
  • Work collaboratively with external partners and stakeholders including government to align implementation efforts with broader project advocacy objectives.

Programme Management 

  • Participate in Compass Action program meetings and related sessions to draw out research-based advocacy messages in programs. 
  • Keep abreast of current research, national and donor policies, and debates relevant to the project. 
  • In collaboration with program managers, monitor and evaluate project activities within budgets, ensuring that indicators and methods are in place to allow evaluation of the achievements and develop regular progress reports.
  • Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement

 Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in project coordination work, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of advocacy strategies. 
  • Excellent understanding of budget cycle and moments.
  • Written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex arguments into accessible English for a non-specialist audience, and the ability to write articles that would be published in the mainstream press.
  • Experience of effective teamwork and outstanding interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in coalition building and working with civil society actors to deliver change

Job Summary:  The Accounts Officer is an integral part of finance team that supports country offices on financial issues, system and process improvement. The Accountant reports to the Head of Finance (HoF) and provides review of transactions and relevant documents.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Day to day implementation

  • Reconcile the reported expenditure with the financial system of the country offices
  • Prepare the fund reconciliation report with the financial report and bank reconciliation
  • Review of the shared supporting documents for all the transactions from.
  • Work with the submitted budget from the country to review and consolidate them for submission
  • Work with the head office team to get our expenditures and supporting documents
  • Review the reimbursement documents from country offices
  • Read, understand, practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action

Partner Support and Capacity building.

  • Support in the use of monitoring systems and monitoring tools
  • Working and building the capacity of the partners, supporting in developing institutional development plans for the local partners.

  • Ensure that all Partner financial data associated with programs are recorded and documented.

Finance & Compliance Management

  • Ensure compliance with donor and Compass Action regulations related to peace and conflict programming.
  • Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies as determined by country leadership.
  • Proactively ensure that team members operate in a secure environment and are aware of policies.

 Accountability to Beneficiaries

  • Compass Action team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries and to international standards guiding international relief and development work, while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.

• Work directly with Youth-led organizations to support them in the design, planning, initiation and implementation of their climate and environmental initiatives in target communities within
• Participate in the situational analysis, baseline studies to get a full understanding of the project scope, targets and intended impact.
• Working closely with the MERL team, collect data and document stories of change depicting the before and after project implementation impact for advocacy and donor project impact progress update and marketing.
• Support conduct planning meetings and come up with ways of addressing any gaps that are identified including supporting district stakeholders during supervision and monitoring of Project activities.
• Work with youth-led organizations to monitor and ensure timely implementation of project activities as per their detailed implementation schedule.
•Contribute towards the implementation of the project by ensuring desired results are achieved on time and to the standard.
• Programme and Project implementation, Reporting and Influencing (20%)
• Develop programme for induction, coaching and training for youth partners to equip them with the necessary skills, knowledge and tools to effectively implement the project.
• Support organize and conduct Project reflection and review meetings at team and district levels that bring on board different stakeholders.
• Actively participate in meetings within the Urban Programme that raise our profile and advocacy agenda.

Educational Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Project Management, Business Administration or relevant field required.
• Minimum of 2 years work experience in projects solution functions.
• Experience with a local or international NGO a plus.
• Experience and proficient skills in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint,)
