During emergencies, our teams build strong relationships with new communities and partners on the ground, all for the purpose of supporting populations through crisis and toward a more resilient future.

Since its establishment, Compass Action has honed its expertise, responding to disasters, epidemics and post-conflict situations in every corner of the world. Compass Action teams are specialists in providing emergency medical care, post-trauma mental health support, essential relief items, and water, sanitation and hygiene solutions. From the moment we arrive somewhere that’s been torn apart by disaster, we hit the ground running. We keep our Emergency Response teams nimble to give us the speed we need to help affected communities get back on their feet. Each response is implemented with local partners, and our first step is always to listen to affected communities so that we can co-create solutions together.

Helping those people in need

To fight the lack of access to sufficient, healthy food, Compassion partners with local churches in eight African countries to implement health and nutrition interventions. These interventions provide individualized care and attention to hundreds of thousands of children in poverty.

References

One in eight children in Africa is food insecure, which can threaten a child’s health and well-being. Food insecurity can also impact a child’s education. Not having adequate nutrition makes school a challenge in several ways. And it starts early.
